March 15 March Route.

After reading through all the comments in the previous post about the route, the best course of action looks to be:

  1. Start off at Victoria Square @ 2pm
  2. Walk Down King William Street
  3. Turn Right onto North Terrace
  4. Turn Right onto Pultney Street
    1. (a) A small splinter group of ~30 people will break off and head down Rundle Mall
    2. (b) The rest will head down Grenfall Street
  5. Turn Left onto King William Street
  6. Turn Right onto Waymouth, and then organise out front of the Scientology building

This will all be done in a neat single file line as to not impede foot traffic as well as dramatic effect.

Edit: There is a Christian Science building on the corner of North Tce & Frome St.. These guys are in no relation to Scientology, so please leave them alone.

Next episode: Permits.

@togusa- Agreed. Wondering if splitting off will require a second permit?

I think I will bring a bunch of folded pieces of paper with either the numbers ‘1′ or ‘2′ printed on. Everyone will get one at Victoria Sq at the start, and that will determine which route people take. (apart from 2 pre-assigned people with a video camera)

@dogfood: Edit: \/ \/ What AnonymooseSmith said, I didn’t realise you meant the Christian Science center - don’t picket them, they have nothing to do with Scientology. The route doesn’t go past there either, so if you do, you will not be covered by permit/insurance and may be asked to stop what your doing and/or leave the area.

@Dogfood: That’s not a Scientology building, and we don’t need people thinking it is. It’s a Christian Science building. Had a few people make that mistake, but they are not the same thing.

We don’t want the public thinking we’re anti-christianity, too.

Are we getting police escort this time too? I for one would feel better if the police were going to show up.

They should be, They will defiantly be notified by both us and the council.

I’m wondering if we should be handing out info sheets before and after the protest. Like just standing in Vic Sq or the markets with handfuls of paper.

I’m also planning on dropping some flyers in at Uni during O-week. More exposure yeah??

anonmask wrote a comment on February 23, 2008

@ admin. Which route is one and which is two?

admin wrote a comment on February 23, 2008

Group 1 is the main route, Group 2 will be the sub route.

While we’re mentioning them, those christian scientists put out a damn fine daily newspaper, I’d say the best in the US: http://www.csmonitor.com/ It reminds me of SBSs coverage of events.

Back on topic, the plan is great, even though it might get a bit squashy on grenfell street the others have plenty of room to manoeuvre. Top work!

We need a smart and qualified person to create a letter for us to hand out en-mass that people can sign and sent to our MP regarding the churches tax exempt status, it should pick up on how they are run like a business/self-help program, and how every aspect of the church (including their texts) cost money.
