Flyers for March 1st

The following are three flyers that are made to invite the general public to March 15th when we meet on the 1st of March. We have refrained from using the more professional pamphlets which we are saving for the 15th. These A4 flyers are designed to inspire curiosity and invite people to make themselves aware/join us in our cause. Please comment if you wish to add anything or find any errors. Your assistance is much appreciated.

Anon response to Media Watch omission

As noted previously, Media Watch did a piece on Scientology and News Corp.’s oversensitivity with them. One member of Anonymous put this video together in response to them missing out the name “Lisa McPherson” in their commendable report on Scientology. The omission of this was an oversight that concerns us deeply and a letter has been sent with this video as a request to Media Watch to do the right thing and Air it. The report remains intact but their is an incredibly important edit by Anonymous around 1:45. It is essential watching, great thanks must go to CecilBAnon:

IRC server change

The Quest for Tax Exempt

Before February 10th Anonymous was a collective of strangers. They drifted through the Internet, gathering information, playing games and dealing in the priceless currency of LULZ and Justice. Scientology had persistently tried to remove the LULZ from the Anonymous collective and that’s when the game started. As anon learned moar about the litigious nature and blatant disregard of human rights of this ‘religion’ we banded together to face the most epic battle for LULZ to ever be faced by Anon.

February 10th came around and many of us believed it would be small. A group of five. Maybe ten? Not even close. Over one hundred people showed up in Adelaide alone. Around the whole world we rose to numbers well over nine thousand. What had we accomplished? The information war had begun and Anon, in its constant state of epic WIN, had gained the attention of mainstream media outlets worldwide. Once the shock had worn off, Anonymous set to work.

Realizing we are dealing with a strong media savvy corporate style organization we quickly determined a common goal. By removing Tax Exempt we could cut a large portion of Scientology’s funding. Initially we thought that by showing Scientology’s profit based structure (whereby all people of the Church need to pay incremental amounts of money to advance up the ladder and Scientology uses it’s business status as freely as it’s religious) and it’s abuse of human rights (Google Lisa McPherson, check out www.xenu.net or visit our own Australian story about Gary Beals) it should be an easy task to have the Tax Exempt Status removed.

We were wrong. According to legal documents in Australia, that regularly quote from the case of Scientology as an example, an organization can be defined as a religion as long as:

“…a religion [has] two characteristics: belief in a supernatural Being, Thing or Principle; and that there is an acceptance of canons of conduct that give effect to that belief by some part of the community.”

This means that scientology can undoubtedly be classed as a religion. To change the law as we know it would require one of two things:

To have a new clause included that requires religion to ensure the basic human rights of its followers is cared for and
To prove that Scientology has used Church Funds in a way that does not benefit its practitioners.

After having researched a little on the subject, neither is as easy at it would appear.

To achieve these two aims Anon must begin to think about what information needs to be in the hands of what people. We need to formulate a legally binding clause that sums up the first aim; we should distribute more information about the disgusting abuses of Human Rights perpetrated by Scientology. Whilst doing this, signatures can be collected for a petition to send to the appropriate heads of government. Failing that we need to find out if their are any Scientology businesses that are purely built for profit that have no relation to it’s members well being.

Any other ideas, questions or information on this topic are more than welcome as we have learned, as Anonymous, that the sharing of information is beneficial to all people. March 15th fast approaches and, though we stand ready, we must never stop planning. Mediawatch article on raid

Mediawatch as the name suggests is an independent organization keeping tabs on the main stream media and its tendency to twist and distort the truth on occasion.

They have pointed a bit of careful editing on the part of some particular news agencies apparently due to legal advice they have had given Scientology’s pursuit of its critics.

Call Out for Mini Raids

It has come to our attention that Sydney is already conducting the sorts of mini-raids we have been discussing for a while. We are falling behind in comparison to other global efforts and this must be rectified. To do so we are meeting at the Himeji Gardens (map provided) which is quiet, out of the way and DESU. Please bring your mask and flyers. We will meet to discuss future dates then split into three groups of five to eight people to spread the word. The groups are to be kept small to avoid the need for a protest permit.

Flyers will be posted shortly but if you are making one/printing one, please ensure that it is

a) focused on Tax Exempt
b) explaining the masks as a precautionary measure
c) not inflammatory by using the words (cult, war, raid etc.) and
d) invite’s the public to March 15th to join us and receive further information.

These are to be peaceful gatherings. Remember to keep your head if confronted by a Scientologist. We meet here at 13:00 on March 1st 2008, Cameras will be there to provide evidence; do not tarnish the anon name.

Mask Preorders

I’m going to take preorders/expression of interest for masks.

If you are interested in a Guy Fawkes/’V’ For Vendetta mask (only mask, no wig or hat).. I have 15 35 on order at the moment, and I’m looking at a price of about $15.00 each. Postage will be extra, but they will be available to pick up on the day.

If you would like one, please email david@anonsa.org. Please do not use the comments to order one, I will not include you in the numbers if I don’t receive an email request.

March 15 March Route.

After reading through all the comments in the previous post about the route, the best course of action looks to be:

Start off at Victoria Square @ 2pm
Walk Down King William Street
Turn Right onto North Terrace
Turn Right onto Pultney Street
1. (a) A small splinter group of ~30 people will break off and head down Rundle Mall
2. (b) The rest will head down Grenfall Street
Turn Left onto King William Street
Turn Right onto Waymouth, and then organise out front of the Scientology building

This will all be done in a neat single file line as to not impede foot traffic as well as dramatic effect.

Edit: There is a Christian Science building on the corner of North Tce & Frome St.. These guys are in no relation to Scientology, so please leave them alone.

The Media is our Friend

Media backlash getting you down? Fret not for the media has apparently helped us with our cause. They have published several factual articles on the negative (and occasionally fatal) practices of Scientology. The following links are stories related to Scientology from the last two years and paint the cult in a less than flattering manner. I, for one, am going to be printing out all of these articles and handing them out to the general public during the March 15^th rally. I urge you to do the same as by using the mainstream media as our source the general public will realise our claims are unbiased and based on fact. Now…. For a little light reading:

Please do not forget our main target is the tax exempt status of Scientology. These stories can be part of our defence against the media backlash that is likely to follow. Also remember that James Packer and Kate Cebrano are avid followers of Scientology’s teachings and both have a unique power over the general public. Packer owns the 9 network and many other mainstream media outlets and Cebrano (amazingly) still has many fans in Australia.

Many of you may have heard John Safran’s show on Triple J, in which he interviewed a member of the Church of Scientology. There were many lies told about Anonymous; we feel that these lies should be corrected.

We would like to say to the public, that we are Anonymous. We are not your enemy; we are your friend. We want to stop this dangerous cult, who lie, break up families, and seek to control governments worldwide, among other activites. We’re not violent, we don’t hate, and we don’t commit crimes. We need your help to stop the Church of Scientology before they hurt anyone else.
