May 7, 2008 7:52 pm by SirFluffingtonADWell, it looks like Scientology have been a busy bunch. I received a hand delivered letter from a man around about 6:25pm, and with it he read out a small note on request. The note said
“THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY BELIEVES THAT YOU ARE PART OF ANONYMOUS WHICH IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT IT BELIEVES IS INVOLVED IN DEATH THREATS AND BOMB THREATS. THE CHURCH BELIEVES YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN THIS GROUP IF THESE ALLEGATIONS ARE CORRECT COULD MAKE YOU AN ACCOMPLICE TO THESE ACTS.”
but more importantly, was the letter. You will find pictures of the letter at the bottom of the page which are kind of blurry, but it read
Dear Mr ***,
RE: THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY AUSTRALIA
We have been retained by the Church of Scientology Australia in connection with its concerns regarding a series of terrorist threats against Church leaders and parishioners made by an internet group known as ‘Anonymous’.
We are instructed that since January 2008 members of Anonymous have engaged in a campaign of violence against the Church, its members and Church property That Anonymous members have made numerous bomb threats, arson threats and committed acts of vandalism against Scientology Churches. That they have made harassing phone calls, sent vulgar and threatening faxes, posted threats on the internet and publicly threatened to kill Scientologists engaged in religious services. That on 30 January 2008, Anonymous members sent letters containing simulated anthrax to over twenty Scientology Churches in Southern California.
We are further instructed that Anonymous members have also sent threatening emails to the Church, including, “[I will] kill you… I have the authority to use lethal force”; and “I’m watching you, and I control the bombs.” And on 13 February 2008, Anonymous placed a video threat on the Internet, saying:
“We are an elite Anonymous. On the 13th of March 2008 . . . one 5 kilogram pack of nitro glycerine will detonate in the Churches of Scientology across the United States of America . . . This will be the world’s biggest terrorist attack on a religion. Lives will be lost… A separate personal attack on [the President of the Church] will be launched on the 13th of March 2008 at an undisclosed time. His execution along with the deaths of other countless Scientologists will strike fear into the hearts of every member of this cult.”
We are informed law enforcement authorities have been notified of these illegal activities.
We are instructed to send you this letter because the Church believes that you may be directing or leading some or all of the actions of “Anonymous”, and have assisted in its campaign of violence and harassment including prank calls and other acts against the local Church. In particular, you were identified by the fact that your name and contact details appear on a permit for Anonymous as a local representative for Anonymous in Adelaide, South Australia.
We are further instructed to advise that should you or your organization continue inciting and / or engaging in such acts against the Church or its members, we are to take all legal steps necessary to protect our client.

I’m not really sure what to make of this, as I have no knowledge of any prank calls, violence or harassment against the local church. I personally don’t want to see any harm coming towards any member of the church, as they are people like anyone else. And I think I would be right in saying that the other members of our group here in Adelaide think the same thing. I will continue to do what I am doing, and it is fortunate that I am already following the request of the letter through my actions.

How predictable
i suggest sending Brock Partners a press pack with info about who anonymous is and why we are doing what we are doing (which isn’t what this particular letter claims we are doing) and some info about what the Co$ has done in the past (such as send bomb threats to themselves – which as far as i’m aware all the bomb threats and white powder have been done by the Co$, got to love the planet arc image they use on everything).
If nothing else it may have the solicitors thinking twice about working for the Co$, when the Co$ are obviously sending them on a wild goose chase.
i also suggest going to the council and asking them why they gave your info to a third party and what their policies on this is.

The permit itself only had my name and number, and it was posted here by myself, in fear that during the first raid they may try to get the council involved to move us on, that didn’t happen, and everything went along smoothly, so it didn’t feel anywhere near as necessary now that we knew what their reactions would be.
No idea how they got my home address though, that wasn’t posted anywhere, at most i only gave out a PO Box address locatated in the CBD.
This is kind of saddening though as things have been going along well with contacting and speaking Cyrus, and I feel he understands that I am no threat, nor did what was claimed in the letter.
1) So how many phone calls have been made to the National Security Hotline regarding Anonymous? Be alert, but not alarmed, etc etc.
2) Why did a member of the Church of Scientology approach a member of Anonymous for a Free Hug on April 10th in Adelaide – with her toddler – if Anonymous is a terrorist group which they fear?

It is safe to say that the firm hired to investigate, and serve this letter more than likely consists of scientologists, if not run by them.
The press pack is a good idea, but don’t hold any hopes of the message getting through to them. If anything, send it for the sake of saying that you DID send it in the hopes of clearing things up in case something further comes of it.
Make sure you cover your arse, because they will be covering theirs.
As for the Scientologist approaching an Anon for a free hug.
With the dirty tricks they are pulling, don’t be surprised if they turn this into a sexual harassment thing.
Awww, you didn’t get an original DVD? Just the crappy letter? At least the DVD you could have sold on eBay for some bucks to buy cake at the next protest.
I hope they catch the culprits. I hope even more that they turn out to be scientologists.
But it’s alread been proven that the youtube bomb threat was their own.

This letter just proves that they are afraid – We’re starting to make our mark on the church and they know it so they have to resort to their usual dirty tactics to bring us down.
Besides – the idea of someone from Anon saying they were a “high ranking member” is just ridiculous. High ranking member of what? The E-peen squad? Wtf.
@admin, I think your conversations with Mr. Brooks kind of precipitated this, to be honest. Also, info like details of who owns a post office box can be released under the FOIA afaik. Same for mobile phone account holders.
IANAL, but I would *strongly* advise NOT speaking to or accepting any calls, mail, etc from Mr. Brooks. And remember that engaging with them is a BAD IDEA.

I have a story as well.
I had been accessing AnonSA from school (inb4 that was really dumb – I realise that now :P), checking it but not posting, and I found out the other day from my principal that Scientology have totally been monitoring this site (as predicted) and called my principal to say stuff like “We believe some of your students may have the wrong idea about our organisation… they’ve been accessing things about Anonymous… terrorist organisation” etc etc. Needless to say, was an awkward meeting with my principal. So yeah. Not visiting AnonSA from school, or indeed when I’m not behind at least 7 proxies, from now on :P
I found it a little creepy.

There’s obviously something that was said that alerted them as to how to find you. I say again: do not engage with them! It is a bad, bad idea!
Anonette, I’d be interested in finding out how Scientology got the logs about that… they should have access to neither this site’s logs, nor your school’s internet access logs…
Truth about that 5kg pack of Nitro video that was supposedly posted by Anonymous:
Quality on the Youtube clip was low and grainy. Scientology sent a DVD to the media that had this video on it… Only thing is the quality of that video was crisp high quality. This may not seem like much, but the only way this is physically possible is if Scientology is in possession of the original video file. As in, they made it.
And while I think of it…
A week or two ago, I was woken by my mother telling me that there were people sitting in a car outside who have been there for the past hour. The police came shortly after and after a long discussion they eventually left.
Probably nothing, but still…
I had a strange looking bird staring at me through the window. After a long time it made this really strange, distinct, bird-call, started jumping around a chair outside, then flew off. It sounded a lot like “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA POW”. I’m scared :(

Anonette, that’s freakin insane, that they went to that effort? I should look up the 7 proxies thing, just to be safe! Or maybe make the effort to get home earlier in case I get a letter of my own =\
David, let us know if you need backup in the future! You should be safe though as their reasoning for giving you the letter was because of events happening in AMERICA, whereas this is AUSTRALIA. Australian courts and police will be reluctant to act on you where there is no proof that the (alleged) “acts committed overseas” have been repeated here by Anonymous.
CoS will have to seek independent reports on the “threat of Anonymous”. That probably won’t happen because of AnonSA’s fantastic record of incident-free protests. Good luck with getting a restraining order, guys (police HATE having to file them, they take HOURS of questioning) :D
Wow, dav3, maybe he’s a relative of that “Plane Crash Pelican” who flew into the jet engine and almost bought it down. He was trying to cause an accident, so [as a Scientologist] he would be the only one there to help?

Look, that sort of junk is expected. Trying to link you to some made up rot in the U.S. is ridiculous. Worry when Agent Smith comes knocking at your door. It’s complete fear tactics and you know it. Isn’t it funny how no-one hears this crazy cooky stuff from sources other than Scientologists? Imagine that same letter but replace all instances of Anonymous with Islam? Would that fly if someone tried to make the same absured link / accusation? Rubbish. Post it to the greater community to give support to anyone else who has received that crap.

REMINDER TO ALL: Anonymous has no leader. And any individual “understanding” between Anonymous and Co$ means nothing. Freedom from harassment / scamming / lies is not a negotiation.

Anonette, I would like to get in contact with you in regards to your situation at school, as under DECS policy your principal should not of acted on that call, nor took it any further then telling CoS that they need to contact a member from within the Flinders Street Education Building.
Even they would of fobbed them off as a group or organization can not impeed a child learning and telling schools what the school can and cannot teach, unless the kid comes under said religion and it’s against their religious beliefs.
Hahahahahhahahahah, I just received one of these on Sunday – rather, my mother did because they had the wrong address – I’m pleased as punch! And it only took them four months to find me!
