Operation: Tax the Bastards!
August 4, 2008 1:29 pm by SirFluffingtonADAfter some (ongoing) planning in the thread for August 16th, We have come up with a number of the details for the next protest.
For August, our theme will be “Operation: Tax the Cult!” or, for a more Australian spin, “Operation: Tax the Bastards!”
The details for the protest are:
Date: August 16th
Time: 2:00pm
Meeting Location: Victoria Square (northern side, as per usual)
Route Plan:
- Start At Victoria Square
- March down King William St
- Head down Waymouth St, and spend 1 hour and 5 minutes out the front of the Scientology building. (long enough to give the Security Guards an extra hour of pay :P)
- Continue down King William St
- Turn Right onto Rundle Mall
- Continue Down Rundle Mall and Rundle St
- Finish the march at Rymill Park
Things to bring to the next protest:
- Big ass banners and other signs if you took the time to make one of these before (the big 1s, the looong 1s, the sheet 1s, the 1s on poles, etc) it’d be so great to see them all flying again [thread]
- Petition (the same as before? or a tax-specific one? What about form letters for people to sign and post to their MP either then/later?)
- Party hard attitude; the lulz, the caek, the win, the confectionery! remember?
- Loud music; it has always been win but you can never have enough [thread]
- Handouts full of win: pamphlets, Gold InfoPack CD-ROMs, cards, badges + other viral marketing - Lots of great flyers, stickers and other media can be found in the August 16th Planning Thread
- YOU and your friends: In the City, Bustin teh Cultz
- ???
- Profit!!
The standard fare for how the raids will progress and how to behave applies to this raid just as much as the others:- No Drugs, Alcohol, Weapons, Violence, Hateful speak/actions. Always follow road traffic rules, move out the way for foot traffic, only cross the road for the green man. If members of the group are stuck on the wrong side of the road, the rest of the group should stop and wait for them to catch up - you guys know how to behave, and I don’t expect any problems. The police as usual, will be following us for everybody’s safety.
Help us with the planning for this event by offering your comments and suggestions either here in the comments, or in this thread.

We have to move fast on this one guys. I’ve spoken in a thread with some of the Sydney anons and they’ve got a workable plan. It’s our thought that intercity collaboration is a damn good idea. So, I reckon we all hop on over to ASyd and this thread: http://forum.asyd.org/index.php?topic=16.0 and get to it.
I think we’ve got the biggest problem to deal with, being the SA charity is how the UK orgs keep their charity status. How, I’m still not entirely sure. I’m a researcher, not an accountant! The ASyd board is great and I think it would be excellent for us all to move together on this.
Bloody obvious question but has anyone contacted the cops to make this all official and the like?
Confirming for peace of mind (and cos it would be good not to annoy our friends in blue).
I usually contact them, or they contact me a few days before the event. I’ll give their events co-ordinator a call tomorrow during work hours and confirm it, but they usually know how it will all go down.
On slightly unrelated news.
UniSA’s Entropy magazine is doing a follow up interview with the Scientology Presedent of Aus (expect alot of the same bullshit :P), so look out for that in the near future.
Everytime!
BAH. i can’t even get to this one D:
and i still owe cowmoo ice coffee
Spoke to SAPol today, they are fine with the protest as per usual, and it will be the same set up, a patrol or two monitoring us throughout the march and while out the front of the Sceintology office.
Again, they are on nobodys side, and are there for everyones protection.
Apparently, last protest.. The group that went back to the city for round 2 (after fullarton rd in the morning) there was a stink bomb thrown in to the Scientology office.. This behaviour is not acceptable, and while not particularly harmful in itself, it reflects badly on the group and could be interpreted as far more sinister.

Good luck everyone — hope it all goes well.
Don’t think I’ll be able to make it this time around due to family dramaz, but I will be there in thetan (or something like that). I’ve noticed that HEAPS of my YFTC’s and flyers have been taken over the last few weeks from their hiding spots (about 50 or so), I hope the protest is huge.
will be there with stax of flyers….can’t wait
I’d just like to confirm that the stinkbomb in the office is a complete fabrication, nothing of the sort happened.
