Guidelines
NONVIOLENCE
Do not, under any circumstances, (other than you being cornered or otherwise unable to escape from the situation) strike or even touch a scientologist counter-protester, etc. If they manage to take your flyers, etc, LET THEM HAVE IT. ANY VIOLENCE CAUSED BY US WILL SURELY BRING ABOUT NEGATIVE MEDIA REACTION OR AT LEAST GIVE THE SCIENTOLOGISTS AMMUNITION
ANONYMITY
If you wish to remain anonymous, you have the option to wear a mask or costume etc. This is reccomended because Scientologists are incredibly zealous and cannot be expected to act normally, and could very possibly tail you in your car/vehicle for kilometers.
WHEN RETURNING FROM PROTEST
DO NOT PROCEED TO YOUR RESPECTIVE HOUSES. Tailing is highly likely and you don’t need these zealots finding out where you live. Go to a cinema or restaurant (Check out the mall?) to celebrate your success. If you notice anybody suspicious tailing you, call the police.
FLYERS
Print out as much as you can, chances are they’ll forcibly take some. Again, let them, and while they’re at it grab a few more of the thousands of sheets you should already have
NO WEAPONS
Nothing that even could be perceived as a weapon, such as a thick picket sign stick.
BE PREPARED…
…to be photographed, by the CoS and your fellow picketers. Authorities may force you to remove masks, so bring normal sunglasses or hats if this is a problem for you.
WEAR GOOD SHOES
A few hours on the pavement can be hard on the feet. Remember, picketers have to keep moving, so as not to block traffic. Dress conservatively.
PREPARE…
…for a reaction. They will likely walk alongside you, bait you, push your buttons, and report back what you’ve said. The audience is the public, the new staff, the townspeople, and perhaps the media, not the Officials. This is a peaceful, calm picket. There should be no yelling or deliberate confrontation with Scientologists. We are here to voice our concern, not create an incident. If someone confronts you and attempts to goad you into some type of reaction, do NOT react in any way that could even be construed as aggressive. Simply walk away from that person.
LOCATE…
…restrooms nearby ahead of time. Let people know where they are.
DO NOTHING ILLEGAL
Is it illegal to spraypaint their building? Don’t do it. Illegal to stand directly in front of their building? Stand off to the side. These people will use any excuse to have you arrested and hauled away, and use any excuse to make you out to be the bad guy. Don’t give ‘em any. It is highly recommended you bring flyers and pamphlets and shit to hand out, but don’t bring signs or weapons or anything that could even remotely get into trouble. Also don’t bring anything you’d be afraid to lose. You may have to drop it and run away.
