We won April 12th!

April 14, 2008 11:34 am by

G’day Anon,

April 12th has now been and gone, and along with it, we held our 3rd successful Raid against Scientology.

This time around we had about 75 people attend the event, but while smaller then the previous events we still had a GREAT turnout with everyone in their best spirits for the day. There was loads of pictures being taken by Anon, the Press & Scientologists alike.

Like the March 15th protest, we marched the city, but with all of us walking down Rundle Mall for massive damage, I don’t think there was a head in the Mall that wasn’t focused on us. There was plenty of requests for free hugs, information and discussion on the subject from the public and while we couldn’t just hand out flyers, plenty still made it into the hands of the people thanks to their requests.

There was plenty of music, dancing and a big ‘love’ theme.

Anyway, enough about the raid itself.. We want to see your pictures, audio & video! – To see how to upload your media to AnonSA , read up the previous post We Want Your Media.

April 12th Details

April 10, 2008 11:11 am by

We are now coming into the final strech for the April 12th Protest, here are all the details.

Location: Victoria Square (northern side)

Time/Date: April 12th 2pm to ~4.30pm

What to bring:

  • A good and fun attitude
  • A mask or some other way to cover your face
    • Cheap masks can be found at Spotlight/GoLo or any costume store
    • Alternatively you can become a Shirt Ninja for the day
  • A sign/placard (or a few)
  • Plenty of Water/Cordial etc.
  • Sunscreen/Hat (just in case)
  • Some knowledge of Scientology and the purpose of this protest
  • It would be really great if everyone was to wear a suit, dress pants and a tie – but this is not a requirement

What not to bring:

  • Drugs/Alcohol (don’t even think about coming to the protest drunk/high, your presence will not welcome if you do)
  • A negative or violent attitude
  • Weapons

Like March 15th, we will be marching around the city, following the same route:

  1. Start off at Victoria Square
  2. Walk down King William Street
  3. Turn Right onto North Terrace
  4. Walk down North Terrace and turn Right onto Pultney Street
  5. Walk up Pultney Street where a small group of about 20 will head down Rundle Mall (only people in suits)
  6. The rest will continue past Rundle Mall and turn right onto Grenfell Street
  7. Head to Waymouth Street and stop out the front of The Church of Scientology building.

This time, we do not have a permit or insurance to protest – this is due to Scientologys successful efforts to stop us from getting a permit last time around and the costs associated with insurance, but the police and council have been contacted regarding this and they are fine with our actions. However, for some unknown reason the council has explicitly requested that we do not hand out flyers citing issues of littering – I did question them about this and they would not turn on their decision.

There is a permit available for distribution of literature, maybe some anon with cash could get them separate of the protest itself to circumvent this decision. I would also like to make it known that if anon do distribute flyers this protest, they will be acting as an individual and the organisers or the group ‘Anonymous’ can not be held accountable for the actions of any individual.
I would request that everyone on the protest please:

  • CLEAN up any and all rubbish left by yourself or any other Anon
  • KEEP to the side walk – do not crowd onto the road
  • OBEY all traffic laws and regulations – don’t block or stall any road traffic
  • MOVE out the way to allow any member of the public free access to the side walk
  • STAY on the opposite side of the road to the Scientology building – their biggest concerns were the safety of their younger church members

Sign Making 101

April 7, 2008 5:26 pm by

Some of the signs at the last raids have been very sub-par – small, look like they were quickly thrown together and impossible to read at a distance, so to help Anon along with the sign creation process, MrDogFood has compiled a bunch of tips into a useful pamphlet. A quick overview as well as a link to the pamphlet of what should make a sign is below.

  1. Find Cardboard – Can be obtained by dismantling a Cardboard box – and boxes can be found everywhere, check your local supermarket or shed or well… Anywhere.
  2. Neatly cut down the cardboard to make a nice backing for your sign.
  3. Construct your message on computer using a BOLD easy to read Sans-Serif font – Aim for one word per page and try to keep the fonts the same size
  4. Stick the message onto the cardboard with a lot of glue or wide packaging tape, your office desk scotch tape is not going to do it
  5. Add your modifications – Want a pole, handles or a pouch for holding flyers, add these now. (nb: It is highly suggested to not use a heavy wooden or metal pole as it can be seen as a weapon – a cardboard tube would be a much better alternative)

This is just a quick overview, everybody should download and read the pamphlet below before constructing their sign.

Guy Fawkes Masks = Fail

9:54 am by

Sorry Guys,

I have been harassing suppliers for the last few weeks trying to get the masks at a reasonable price, but due to one group that I will choose not to name *ahem*Anonymous*ahem.* It has been very hard to find a supplier who even has them, let alone one that will give them to me for any less then about US$25-30 each. I will continue to find a reasonable source for them, but I will not have them in time for April 12th.

Sorry Again, Anonymous failed this task.

Press Pack for April 12′s Operation Reconnect

April 6, 2008 8:48 pm by

Anonymous has created a press pack to assist journalists in reporting on Anonymous’ ongoing protest against the Church of Scientology’s criminal activities.

This press pack includes a press release about April 12′s Operation Reconnect (for immediate publication) as well as some relevant background information and examples of the literature we plan to distribute on April 12. There is an alternative version that also contains a few high-res photos from March 15′s Adelaide protest.

Copies have been posted to most SA news outlets. The press release has also been disseminated via email, with journalists directed to download this pack for further info. Copies will also be brought to the April 12 protest, to hand to any journo’s who do show up.

Any feedback on the content of the press pack is most welcome.

A group of anon focussed upon distributing posters have managed to put up approximately 90 posters around the Adelaide CBD in prominent places, have a look around and see if you can find them!

Once again more people wished to take photos with anon, and copies may turn up on this site!

Remember to spread the word, and if you’ve got a Disconnection story, email us here at:

See you on the 12th of April at 2pm in Victoria Square.
