I've just been thinking, why don't we advertise on facebook some of our protests?

I'm not talking about the "creating an event and inviting everyone" type thing

but actual advertising.

a banner which would go to the post on this site

Facebook is extremely targetted and the demographics fit us perfectly.

Also, it looks pretty cheap.

eg: check this: http://www.new.facebook.com/ads/best_practices.php

We could target anybody located in adelaide, because I don't know about you, but plenty of people who DON'T actually normally fit 'our demographic' have facebook accounts.

which in my opinion is the 14-40 market with an interest in internet culture.

This isn't our own little private treehouse; we want everyone involved, and as it's very localised, it'll be cheap because it works via click.

it might also give us some good targetting information about who exactly would click our stuff :D

Fluff, everyone, what would you think about using some of the donation money to get the word out on the Internet in a VERY targetted fashion?

This is a dam excellent idea indeed. All you need is some kick ass graphically awesome banner with some funny and/or surreal saying or info on it and you'll have a lot of views imo.

Great idea 1138

In 1995 Germany ruled that Scientology is not a religion; and if anyone could spot a dangerous fanatical movement, before it gets out of hand, its the Germans

Excellent idea!

On a side… there is a group called "I support Anonymous" which I DO NOT RECOMMEND we join, as Im sure it just adds us to a sublist of targets =)

But advertising or whatever sounds BRILLIANT!

Win!

Yep. the ad got through. 23 thousand people saw our ad last night.

money well spent in my opinion.

this was the ad. I think we need to do this more often :D

This was the ad:

it's not important if they click on it or not as all the important info is in the ad :D

The click-thru isnt anywhere near as impressive, but thats not too important as all the info is in the ad itself.

25 clicks since the ad went live.

Thanks.

I think we should do another one next time, but have more of a lead up.

Here's the final results.

final cost for 3 days: $37.40. and that's only because i wasn't paying attention and let the ad go on a little longer than needed :D

So all in all, 134,859 people saw our ad.

If we can get some catchy ads happening, i think we can generate some noise on this and further interest.
