As a newbie here i dont know if you guys are aware of "The Drug Free Ambassadors" program that is supported ( owned and run ) by Scientology in Adelaide and the rest of Australia.

It looks as though they set up at events and also offer seminars to schools in their area – does anyone know how active they are in SA

While their message of drug abuse  is to be commended there is of course the other side of their message -

                                 – the attack on phsycs and prescribed meds

                                 – their promotion of narconon

                                 – their embellishment of Hubbard

                                 – recruiting children

                                 – etc….

Links from the site direct to international programs incl. Narconon,CCHR and others.

Oh my god these people are idiots. Apart from being scilons.

after following their links for the "Facts on Marijuana" (always a doozie).

which doesn't directly link to "joints" so they wouldn't know what to look for unless they knew that name (not always if it's for 'youth')

http://www.drugfreeworld.org/factsaboutdrugs/joints.html

 Some laughably stupid shit there.

the "facts" are not based on ANY evidence, clearly are meant to be taken at face value with no actual thought put into them:

From the site: (I'm bored so I'm refuting them :) )

Cannabis is usually rolled up in a cigarette called a joint or a nail. It can also be brewed as a tea or mixed with food, or smoked through a water pipe called a bong. – Thanks for the info.

Sixty percent of teenagers in drug treatment programs are there because of marijuana.
- show me the source, you mean, they were found smoking dope so they got sent to a drug program? shock!

According to a National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, kids who frequently use marijuana are almost four times more likely to act violently or damage property.- how the fuck do you get that metric? even if they WE'RE that's what TEENAGERS DO.

They are five times more likely to steal than those who do not use the drug. – SHOW ME THE SOURCE again, this is completely subjective, does not take ANY other factors into account. or if it does, does not cite.

Marijuana is often more potent today than it used to be. - Myth. See the movie "Grass".

Growing techniques and selective use of seeds have produced a more powerful drug.-  it CAN. this implies they are ALL like this.

Correspondingly, there has been a sharp increase in the number of marijuana-related emergency room visits by young pot smokers. – How many  directly attributable deaths have there been to marijuana due to 'overdose'. OH YEAH. ABSOLUTELY NONE, THAT'S RIGHT. search for "marijuana ovedose" on google, first result: MARIJUANA MYTHS (those playing at home, see section 12).

Because a tolerance builds up, marijuana can lead users to consume stronger drugs to achieve the same "high." When the effects start to wear off, the person may turn to more potent drugs to rid himself of the unwanted conditions that prompted him to take marijuana in the first place.

- The old "Gateway" argument, proven time and time again to be a load of balony. see wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_drug_theory#Cannabis ), there's been study after study,

Marijuana itself does not lead the person to the other drugs: people take drugs to get rid of unwanted situations or feelings. WUT? BUT YOUR PREVIOUS STATEMENT. This is also another clue it's scilons with the whole "you cause your own problems all the time with TEH TASTY ENTHETA".

The drug (marijuana) masks the problem for a time (while the user is "high."). When the "high" fades, the problem, unwanted condition or situation returns more intensely than before. – This insinuates that marijuana is only used as an escapist measure. What the fuck?

The user may then turn to stronger drugs since marijuana no longer "works."

-ALTERED GATEWAY AGAIN. what pot are they smoking that doesn't work??? must be smoking those hemp jeans. Even the QLD government thinks the gateway argument is a pile of shit. see:  "long term effects" http://ndarc.med.unsw.edu.au/NDARCWeb.nsf/resources/NDARCFact_Drugs4/$file/CANNABIS+FACT+SHEET.pdf

Short-term Effects:

Users suffer loss of coordination and distortions in their sense of time, vision and hearing. Other effects are sleepiness, reddening of the eyes, increased appetite and relaxed muscles. Heart rate can speed up. In fact, in the first hour of smoking marijuana, a user’s risk of a heart attack increases at least five-fold. - Risk of heart attack also increases when you DRINK RED BULL. cmon people, you're scraping.it also sounds like an advertisment.

School performance is reduced through impaired memory and lessened ability to solve problems. - DONT SMOKE AT SCHOOL. you're a fucking idiot if you do. RECREATION BITCHES. heck, you cant get smokes until you're 18 either!

Long-term Effects:

Long-term use can cause psychotic symptoms. – No  source cited. probably that wacky 70's monkey-brain testing one which NOBODY uses anymore. heck, the qld govt can only make vague references to "it may do something, not proven".

It can also damage the lungs and the heart, worsen the symptoms of bronchitis and cause coughing and wheezing.- Smoking gives you LUNG CANCER. how much do you have to smoke to get stoned vs how many cigarettes do people smoke? not alot. cannabis also has multiple methods of absorption if you're worried. bake a cake. buy a vaporiser.

It may reduce the body’s ability to fight lung infections and illness.  - wow, they're not even willing to state that this IS the case like their other wacky shit. it MAY reduce? scilon, please.

Speaking of Sci-Fi front groups, I was shocked.

I passed through the Psychic Mind Body Expo at the Wayville Show Grounds this weekend. To my horror I saw the demon itself in action! I saw innocent humans forking over cash for plastic sealed copies of the Dianetics book! Arrgh! Oh my Anon-dismay! Oh woe, if only I had a Guy-Fawkes mask and a decent banner! But alas it was not the time nor the place…

What struck my mind though was that it was of course labelled the "Dianetics" booth. Not the "Scientology booth." Whilst I have absolute confindence that our great work so far – has, and continues to plant the awareness necessary to counteract converts to the Blistonian-Scilon cult, we do need to do more to alert the public to the their front organisations.

E.g. the public are clearly not as aware that Dianetics, the Dianetics Foundation or the Religious Technology Centre (small print at the bottom of stress test coupons) are the product of Xenu inc…

I wondered how many of the public would have ignored the stress tests if they knew that it was Scientology that was responsible. Lets aim to reflect this link in June 14th signs / fliers:

Dianetics = Scientology.

That one's true in some cases, but the rest is pretty much subjective bullshit. I won't touch any drugs and I'm weary of alcohol because I have a history of schizoprenia in my family and drugs – especially marijuana – might trigger the gene. That's the part that they left out of that little piece of bull, they're spot on aside from the fact that psychotic symptoms occur because of a dormant mental illness gene.

I love this "drug-free pledge" they have the kiddiwinks make, it's like all those times we made my brother promise not to swear when he was six…

"Drugs destroy lives and included in this category are illegal drugs such as
marijuana and ecstasy, cigarettes, illegal use of medical drugs and drinking
alcohol to excess."

At the start of this statement it sort of alludes to use of prescription drugs, bit of a scientology undertone much?

"It can break up families and destroy friendships."

…so can [read: does] Scientology…

"While it may be considered fashionable or cool to take drugs, the reality
is that drugs are a trap that wastes your money, controls your life…"

*raises eyebrow* I think CO$ is a drug of it's own…

Those are my impressions of just the front page…I'd love for these guys to come to my school – although they'd probably be scared of all the Catholics – just so I could question EVERYTHING they try to throw at us. *giggle*

Nrrr…I was wondering if we'd get any of their front groups and here we go. Considering how generally laid back people are about their pot, and how peer reviewed medical studies have found that medicinal cannabis is a very great help to sufferers of chronic pain, cancer, HIV, etc, this annoys me. If you've ever seen Stu from Plymouth, UK, in action (PlymouthScientology on YouTube), he's a big advocate of medical cannabis and I don't think it's slowed his mental functions or impaired his brain or turned him into a drug crazed zombie at all.

Regarding the Psychic Fair, they've been popping up all over the world at Psychic Fairs lately. I don't know if this is a new trend, but might be worth dropping a line to the local organisers of the event? If no one else wants to, let me know and I'll do it, just so there aren't like 40 emails sent – don't want to bombard the organisers after all! :)

Yeah the problem is that at the Wayville one, it had all sorts of stuff, including general religious / philosophical groups, and entertainment stuff (E.g Reiki, Christian, Goji berri's, belly dancing, kids magic sets etc). They were there legally and payed for the central booth.

Really that's where they belong in a sense, but need to be taken with the grain (or handful) of salt along with the Coffee cup future readings etc..

Not sure what can be done, other than to alert the public going in to park that Dianetics is Scientology… (remaining on the outside of course as to not crash the event.)

Or get an Anonymous booth preaching free hugs!! LOL!!!

I wonder how much an Anonymous booth would cost, right next to the Scilons…
