No, it's not a survey from the CoS.

I wrote up this survey for my Psychology class, as an aid for my English essay, on Scientology, and its belief systems, as well as the (very few) pros, and cons of Scientology.

I bumped into Nick Zenophon whilst trying to find candidates for said survey, and he said he'd happily fill one out if I emailed it to him. I think that's a triumph, on a small plane.

But, yeah, said survey will be posted in the next post, and if you could could you fill it out for me. It'd be a massive aid.

In regards to the survey, I think all of our answers here on AnonSA would be exactly the same! Are you sampling a range of people so that the data isn't biased?

I think some of the questions need to be reworked a little; some are leading questions (2, 4, 6), and some enqire into respondents' knowledge of fact, not opinion (5, 7, 8). Is the questionnaire intended to measure opinions on Scientology or knowledge about Scientology? These two differing constructs shouldn't be conflated into a single variable.

If you want to make your assignment more interesting, you could examine a relationship between knowledge of Scientology and opinion of Scientology, measured separately. I would hypothesise that greater knowledge would be associated with more negative opinion, while lesser knowledge would be associated with more positive or neutral opinion.

Christianity's origin story and many events in the bible are outlandish but are mainstream beliefs of many. A whole lot of legitimate religions that weren't designed purely as a pyramid scam are founded on supernatural events which many would not accept actually occurred. The problem Anon has with Scientology is not the beliefs, it's the practices of the organisation. People can believe whatever they want, just not that they are above the law, and human rights. Also only Scientologists would believe the Xenu story, just as only Christians would believe the Christian origin story, and I doubt you're including Scilons in your sample – so your data will be biased.

What are you measuring, opinion on Scientology or knowledge of Scientology, or are you intentionally measuring both, and will write about the findings for each separately? Or are you just seeking as many negatives about Scientology as possible? You can't present responses of knowledge as opinion data, as one most definitely does not substitute for the other.
