hey all SA anons,
Im quite keen on coming to the next protest and making a speech regarding many aspects of scientology i have experienced,(thanks for the invite – anon1138)
and i've been thinking – and i wanted to ask, – why are you all protesting, and if you guys have personal beef with the Co$ (family connections such as ex-Sea org kids) or you are doing it for a more social altruistic reason, or you don't need a reason and you are just doing it…?
I know many people are anti-scio, but why are YOU personally out there protesting?

It's not their beliefs for me. They can believe whatever the hell they want, If my problem was their beliefs I'd be the worlds biggest hypocrite, I defend my Wiccan faith once a week at the very least. If they think they're possessed by alien particles that's their business.
My reason for protesting is the exploitation, the murders, the disconnection, it's a greedy cult. I want the world to know the crimes committed by CO$. Protesting against beliefs is biggotry, protesting against murderous cults is saving the world.

Much like the story of Anon, what really got me interested and out to the first protest was the whole freedom of speech issue, the misuse of copyright law to silence the media. That and this was the first, pure borne of the internet, protest. so it was going to be interesting either way.
Before all this, I actually had a go on the e meter a while ago, and i kept on getting told NOT TO GRIP IT SO HARD AND STOP GRIPPING IT. I wasn't gripping it and they were scary about it :P. I only looked because they had "Science" in their name, but it just didn't seem very scientific to me :D.
After that I did a google for scientology (yes, get that, young people will do their own research scientology, I don't care who you are, regardless of topic, I look for independent opinions and research) I came across Operation Clambake before the whole thing started and I read about xenu (after which I remembered I'd been there before the South Park episode) because I saw a local "stress test" thing and didn't know what the fuck they were on about.
When I first read OC I didn't really read about the deaths, I read about it being a dangerous cult etc and that was really kind of too 'serious business' to me and I turned off. But going to a protest, I needed to know about this stuff, and I looked on wikipedia, followed links around, found out exactly how bad the organisation is.
I saw "Message to Scientology", checked out partyvan, Then I went to the first protest, and I saw everyone was cordial, they had a fun atmosphere whilst still getting a point across and the scientologists seemed to take it so BADLY. they hired security for completely docile people really, and it just kind of irked me, why would they do this? I didn't buy their 'cyberterrorist' rant, the buzzword of the past 7 years with another buzzword attached. the most they could come up with is the beaten to a dead horse stadium incident from 4chan, 'harassing phonecalls and faxes' and a faked bomb threat.
Not buying it.
So I kept coming back, because you get to inform people about a dangerous cult, and have a good time.

A friend told me about Scientology AGES ago and how ridiculous their beliefs were. I did my homework then and thought of them as ludicrous. Eventually Anonymous began and what drew my attention were their outfits. One day I saw a poster on a wall in Adelaide. (It was small, and I ripped it off – hey I was slack..) took it home and went to all the links. I knew it was really a bit much to be protesting against them just because 'supposedly' had weird 'beliefs' – beliefs they were entitled to have.. but when i carefully read a statement that were not against their beliefs but the effects of their organisation that was what drew me in. I agreed with Anonymous' beliefs, the approach was reasonable, just and Co$ crimes and dodgyness were enough that I had no issues taking up the cause. Furthermore, the collective organisation that existed at the first protest impressed me! It was peaceful and attracted the right sort of people. Everyone was on the same page!
Personally I didn't protest because I expected that we would seriously have anyone important or significant take notice – very few protests result in that sort of action (unless exceptional effort is put in.) But for me this was different. This was a war of awareness – something that IS achieved very succesfully through protests. I don't know what others get out of it, but my goal is achieved every time someone reads a flier, sees our signs, our masks and begins to learn about scientology. Anonymous has an impact I'm satisfied with. To see the next generation armed with the 'true facts' or at least 'the doubt' to question "their facts" is enough for me. Anonymous has already achieved this by getting so many of Gen Y involved, and passing on the information via the net protests etc. Anonymous has done unfathomable damage to scientology already Billions if you could put a figure to it. I forsaw our actions now having results over a significant span of time (e.g Cos membership dying off by not continuing through Gen Y)
However.. results I didn't expect to see stemming from our protest saga have ALREADY come about. Important people are taking notice – our tax the bastards episode has just showed that! Today tonight has put more nails in the coffin.. and Cos continues to screw up.. and the plot continues..

NB: Vagueness to protect identities.
For me, it's a personal thing. A friend was hooked in many years ago. He got out – after a lot of time, work and patience on the part of friends and family – but not before pouring several grand into it. I've seen how much despair and misery family and friends feel when faced with disconnection, have heard the words "I have to cut you out of my life b.c you're a SP" said to me. I've never forgotten it. I never will forget it. I don't think any of us who experienced this back then will either.
Also, the more I read, the more I learn, the more horrified and amazed I become at how this has all managed to keep going for so long without being unchecked. I can't wrap my head around how things like fair game, disconnection, tax fraud, etc, etc, ad infinitum can go on for so long around the world, let alone in my country – my *city* – without any sort of ramification. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and all that – but there's been little reaction until the last year and certainly very little until very recently from governments or media.

thanks for the responses, i have enjoyed reading them, and look forward to meeting you guys. And gosh anon23517 I was horrified at even imagining about a friend of yours telling you he can't see you anymore because your a Suppressive person.

things like 'disconnection' are designed to keep things secret so nobody knows what's happening on the outside. Its standard cult mentality to brainwash people into thinking that everyone else are "demons" who you can't associate with/communicate to. they slowly melt the individual down to the point where they totally adopt the cult mentality and have no other reality than that which they are fed. At this point they have no communication lines out to the real world – and actually they are the ones who have willingly given them up.
Because of that cycle, they now have no outside reality or access to any viewpoint that looks in from outside of the situation, thus they don't criticize their situation, they are so sucked in that they will even defend there oppressor! (note: this is also the case with battered women) – thus nobody really finds out how evil it can get inside the little microcosm.
lucky there are some guys destroying things from the inside, check out blownforgood's post on ex scientology message board, this one story personally effected me for sometime. get ready for lord of flies with scientology's international management corp.

at the turn of the century (gawd I love that term) i was spending cigarette breaks watching scilons try and recuit ppl for their 'free stress tests' on waymouth st and eventually my interest was piqued enough to look into it online.
i read a PDF version of 'The Road to Xenu' – a book written by an ex-Scilon but could not completely reconcile what I had read, with the Org on Waymouth St ("maybe in America, but not over here" I thought). I did develop a definite distrust and suspiscion of Scientology although I probably filed it under "Crazy religion" without much thought of how different it was than other religions and I wondered if Scientology could really be THAT crazy/dangerous.
of course, the South Park episode blew my mind – I thought "wow! they DO believe that volcano/soul-trapper/xenu crap! the book wasn't exagerating after all!" – plus I was reading 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins at the time, after finishing 'Fight Club' by Chuck Palahniuk. i started to realise that perhaps my opinions weren't so isolated or 'radical' and that, in fact, there were loads of ppl thinking just like me.
along comes the Tom Cruise medal of valour vid on Youtube. I thought I was a big-time computer geek, til my gf puts me onto this and I realise my finger is far from the pulse and jammed squarely up my ass. Dawkins' veritable "herd of cats" had been gathering online, organising and had already held one protest. The ideals of freedom of speech and freedom of knowledge really appealed to me. I was excited by the idea of making a stand against the bully tactics and intimidation. it was just like in the playground; if enough of us stand up to them, they can't eat all of us!
why should we let them get away with it? especially now that they're treading on our territory. i saw the mainstream news coverage of the Feb protests, got online, found Partyvan, Clambake, Enturb and eventually AnonSA. finally, a chance to act. I chose to get involved because:
(1) i felt strongly about the hypocrisy of Scientology (the fact an institution like this can even be allowed to EXIST) and their bullying tactics + (in the long-term) i want to embrace a post-human future where bullshit scams like religious cults, advertising, banks and other outdated institutions that are _no longer relevant_ are brushed aside by a calm, forward-thinking populance who want to EVOLVE together
(2) it seemed like a whole shitload of fun, a totally unique movement of like-minded ppl that didn't wanna do what they were told and seemed to value DATA and KNOWLEDGE above STATUS or WEALTH

For me, it started a couple of years ago, on the forums Something Awful, somebody started a thread there titled "Come Join the First Church of Xenu" or something along those lines in parody of Scientology. That thread grew really really big and ended up turning into a couple of 100+ page threads. While those threads were parody and were never meant to be serious at all, we had one interesting person sign up to the forums and join in the discussion, his name was Arnie Lerma (of lermanet.com) and he started showing us the true side of Scientology. Those threads spawned the site firstchurchofxenu.com (now defunct, but a cache of it is in the internet archive here). While that was all in good fun, it fizzeled out and nobody thought much of it since, but it was a bit of a taste of what Chanology was.
Then, in January/Feburary of this year… [insert generic statment detailing history of Anon/Chanology] and stuff happened. I, being the IRC lurker, decided to join irc.partyvan.info and sit on the sidelines watching what Anon were getting upto. They came to the realisation of what they were doing was not going to get them anywhere in the long term, so everyone stopped the petty eHarassment, and decentralised. I followed, and joined #adelraid to find an empty channel, someone from #ausraid joined the chan and then gave me ownership. Figuring that I needed to do something given the responsibility I was handed, I quickly threw together a copypasta site detailing the Adelaide plans for the Feb protest (cos.adelraid.googlepages.com). The channel quickly grew to about 10-15 people, and we didn't expect the first protest in Adelaide to be any more then that. When 150+ people rocked up to the protest, I was suprized and amazed to say the least.. Then the rest of the history can be found right here on this site. :)
For me though, protesting, has been somewhat due to the position of responsibility, and fun. I have no personal connection to Scientology, and they have not caused harm to myself or any one I know, but the more I read, the more I see that they do not belong in their current structure.

Im protesting purely for the lulz.
But really, my reason isn't that lengthy as they have not personally effected me. Co$ is exploiting more then just its victims, but society and the government. Such a cult is dangerous to the general public, for the obvious reasons as you know. I couldn't care less about what they believe (even though it is all bullshit. xenumuch?), but their hypocrisy and censorship, is not helping society in anyway. Having myself, show and protest against this scamming money hungry cult is also a form of self satisfaction; that i am attempting to make the community better while still having fun, as well as being in an environment with intelligent people that have good intentions. I don't wan't to see the future run by religious propaganda and religious cults that con its followers. I think the saying 'knowledge is free' quite as well sums this sort of question up amirite? I have my shitty $400 wage taxed, why can't this cult have theirs?
In the end, it would be more then just satisfying to be able to say, i helped society.
EDIT: also, thought it might be interesting how i came across anon.
about 5 months ago i was randomly browsing encyclopedia dramatica and came across the group known as anonymous. obviously everything posted on ae is lies lol, but none the less i became interested after watching the report by faux news and decided to youtube anonymous, where i came across the message to scientology, which led on to one of the anon sites (can't remember which one) where i read up on scientology and read personal stories, etc. Before this i only thought of scientology as some random lolalien religion, i didn't realize how potentionally dangerous it is/was. i googled anonymous sa and came across you guys. i sorta forgot all about it untill a few weeks ago when i decided to get involved.

In 1995 Germany ruled that Scientology is not a religion; and if anyone could spot a dangerous fanatical movement, before it gets out of hand, its the Germans

the first protest I went to was because I'd spoken to SirFluffington about the raids a few times and planned on going along with a few of our mutual friends to support what he was doing.
at that point I didn't know a whole lot about the Co$ aside from what I caught from a particular episode of South Park.
After going to the protest in June I started reading up on all the things the Co$ have been doing, I don't have a problem with their beliefs, but I have a huge problem with the terrible things they've been doing to people.

I started protesting against CoS because I've seen Scientologists in action, and to be honest, they scare the crap out of me. There's several Scientologists on staff at my high-school, and they're (unsurprisingly) horrible people. When I first heard about the Anonymous protests, I decided to check it out, and enjoyed it. :)

yet to attend a protest, but plan to hopefully check out the one in november.
First found out about anonamous while in the city one saturday night with a few m8's. Noticed this sticker on a post while waiting for some greasy food (helps alot with beer lol) with ANONAMOUS MASS PROTEST AGAINST COS, so the next day i looked it up on youtube and found the first message. Thought 'fuk ye' so started researching like hell on the net about the COS. Even watched the 'scientology and me' doco on CI channel- VERY GOOD DOCO i might add. A m8 of mine, is as deep into researchin the COS as i am, but he doesnt have the net (lives out in a tiny town lol) plus, he doesnt like the idea of getting involved in a protest. He'd rather just try out a stress test and mock them and ask tough questions to em lol :P. Sure i wanna join in, but a thought in the back of my mind says "your going into something real serious here, be fucking careful!" so its all just a process on pretty much manning up and joining the cause lol
As for myself, i wont say my name, address etc, because its an anon board- and the COS may be even watching this space. Who knows. But all my life i've been pretty much an athiest, the thought of a 'religion' or devine power to me is utter stupidity. SURE believe in what you want, but when it involves greed and death of its followers- i do not stand for it (considering ALL religions do exactly that as well as the COS just not in a large way…. hmmm…..). I sometimes think to myself "why bother, we cant stop something that large" but i've noticed there is a change in the air- no its not Obama…. just the world has suddenly been interested in looking at what makes this cult tick. In the past couple of years, many governments across europe have banned the COS, and many more protests have followed anon. I may have not been out at the rallies. BUT i've been out there telling people, like m8's work mates and so on, of the dangers of scientology, and all of them agree thats its a fucked up system of lies and profit.
So in closing, you will hear from me either here, or on youtube, or even out there in person, behind a guy fawks mask.
WE ARE ANONAMOUS
WE ARE LEGION
WE DO NOT FORGIVE
WE DO NOT FORGET
EXPECT US

In the end, everything we do, is just everything we've done.
