The whole attempt the government to censor the internet is destined to fail. Did you see the Insight episode about this debate? Senator Conroy makes an apperance and attempts to defend his faulty position.

http://news.sbs.com.au/insight/episode/index/id/59#watchonline

http://opennet.net/about-filtering – offers a detailed explanation of various methods of internet filtering.

http://www.masternewmedia.org/privacy_security/bypass-internet-censorship/bypass-internet-filters-anonymous-browsing-guide-20071118.htm – offers some ideas for circumvention.

While I agree that there is abhorrent content on the internet, it's clear that censorship will only push it underground and make it more difficult to monitor. Also the tool is far to dangerous to free speech and netneutraitly to be weilded by any government/organisation.

However if the filter does get installed/implemented we still have options to fight for freedom on the internet.

Auschina anyone?

Also, i would be very careful with linking the blacklist. Apparently you can get up and including $25,000 fine, or imprisonment. I had the file a few months ago until my friend who gave it to me warned me, and i chucked it in the shredder. Apparently the feds where looking for the guy who originally leaked it.

Other then that, yes /b/ is fucked. but not 4chan, thats probably the only plus side, not that i visit any other boards. But, like stated, there are/will be ways around this. This isn't really the place for this sort of discussion, but implementing this filter will do absolutely nothing.

Anyone remember Johnie's EPIC 5 million dollar porno filter that was bypassed by a 16yr old kid the next day?

Something similar to that. Government knows there internet. The internet is a series of tubes, after all.

surely they know that the pedofags dont use the 'traditional' net, they use P2P programs, which avoid the net filter- many of the sites that were blacklisted were also sites that had 'anti government' articles.

auschina here we come…

In the end, everything we do, is just everything we've done.

Will the firewall be restricting sites based on our ip? If so you can merely just use hotspot shield to change your ip. Well thats what i do to watch hulu videos since it gives you an american ip. Anyways, there are dozens of ways of getting around the firewall.
